I was there for the first ever night game at Target Field and got to see the Twins beat up on the Royals, 10 to 3. I was blown away by Target Field, it is simply amazing. It was one of my good friend's birthday, Luke Goetting, so we went to the Twins game. Luke managed to get four tickets through his school for some of us, and he and two others already had tickets at the club level.
One of the guys that was sitting with me was a cripple, so that made things quite interesting since we were in literally the last row on the third level. (The first picture is a few from our seats.) Now, sure, we were way the hell up there, but to be honest, it was still a gorgeous view. I loved the energy of the crowd as well. One of my favorite moments was when Delmon Young Gun threw out a KC player at home plate from left field. The crowd went nuts and, even in the absolute nose bleed section, you definitely felt like you were right in the action.
(Poor Aaron.)
We planned to meet in the plaza area right outside the field (Gate 29). One of the first things I noticed was everyone on the Target Field staff was extremely helpful and provided great customer service. I don't remember that at the Metrodome.
One tip for future goers: be sure to bring a coat. Last night got a little chilly, especially when we were a mile up in the air with the wind. (If you are associated with Target Field, I would suggest putting heating lamps on the overhang for early spring games and late fall games.) Because of this, my group eventually left our seats and found our way down to the club level. On the club level concourse, you still have a great view of the game and plenty of standing room. Plus, there is the Town Ball Tavern which is open to anyone with a ticket. It's a full fledged bar and grill with a bunch of flat panel TVs, and you can still see out on to the field.
Finally, as we were standing on the club level concourse, we were able to take a load off on some nice cushioned seats. (See the picture to the left. There really isn't a whole more that can be said about it. It is a wonderful experience and I cannot wait to get back for another game, especially since I did not see a Twins home run. I'm not a full fledged, hardcore baseball fan, so in the Dome I remember after awhile I would start losing interest in the game. At no point did that happen at Target Field. Before I knew it, it was the top of the 9th, two down and the crowd roaring for the last out.
Here are a few more pictures (pictures worth a thousand words, yada yada, standard cliché saying, etc.):
View from our seats. Section 310, row 14.
And that's the ball game, folks!
Club level concourse view.
Another club level view.
Nose bleed section.
I don't know, it's Target Field nonetheless.
If you haven't been to Target Field yet, you should be extremely jealous.

The padded seats you sat in just in front of the standing area are actually ticketed seats. It's for wheelchair seating. You get a ticket and if you aren't in a chair you sit in the seats, if you do have wheelchair you just move the seat out of the way. They're greats spots to plop down if no usher kicks you out or the ticket holder doesn't come back. Glad to see you enjoyed the game, you picked a great one to go to
ReplyDeleteAh, thanks for clearing that up.
